Off Topic, but Arcade: Galaxian Survey

I personally liked Galaxian3 and Attack of the Zolgear. They still have one of these large 3 screen units set up at Funcastle in Nashua, New Hampshire which is not far away from where I live.

Great game for its time. It's short, but there's no denying the fact that this was an awesome game to play with 5 friends (6 players simultaneous) and it had some cool polygonal graphics for its time.

As for a "classic" version, I'd have to say Galaga is the version that holds up the best. Galaxian, in the arcades at least, is rather boring and I hate being limited to one missile fired at any given time.

I just had to chime in on this one.

The arcade version of Galaxian is ok....

but the version for the Atari 5200 is just awesome, I don't know why.

Maybe it is those funky sounds the ships make when they go into formation attacks.

and the rainbow text that is always shown.

I have mame, and so I pretty much speak from knowledge on all the galaga, galaxian games out there.

Galaxian does reward sharpshooting more than Galaga, galaga is all about getting that additional ship, and then kicking as much ass as possible before dying.
