Matt Fisher
As for vertical vector games, there were a few: Tempest, Quantum, Tac Scan, Sundance, Barrier, and Cosmic Chasm (appeared on the Vectrex first, of course). That's all, I think. Which way were Star Castle and Rip-Off? They were both horizontal in the arcade but vertical on the Vectrex, obviously. Matt Fisher
but as for vertical.. well.. all the above said makes sence.. why you can't use it? well you can.. how you can use it? well.. if you have an extra $200 lying around... you can go Here Now that's just beautiful, and no soldering required! Tempting, tempting tempting... Santa? More like $500 or $600 when you add in the cost of the working vector monitor! Worth every penny, though. I've had my vectormame for a couple of years now and wouldn't trade it for the most deluxe raster mame ever made. 35 (or so) vector games on a real vector monitor trumps 6000 (or so) on a raster monitor in my book. Matt Fisher
I'm not santa.. you got the letters mixed up again.. now..what I need is a nice multi-cart for my vectrex.... satan? This is even better: http://www.vectrex.biz/ You can load any of the originals and many of the recent homebrews, plus any that get released in the future. Odd, considering that I was thinking of making a bartop vector mame out of my spare vectrex... If you are patient, though, you can get 15" b/w vector for under 100 bucks (used in a lot of cocktails and cabarets), which would give you a lot more real estate and would be a better picture to boot. I remember playing it... Yes, they did port Scramble, using vector graphics. They also did Berzerk, another raster game that turned out to be a pretty good vector game as well. Pole Position is another...I'm pretty sure there were more, but I can't remember off the top of my head. There are several homebrews that port raster games to the Vectrex. Space Invaders, Defender, Galaxian... Edited November 2, 2006 by Lord Helmet
