Lord_Garland
Hello there everyone, I have a question for you all. I have been thinking for some time now of making a EMU for 2600 in Macromedia Flash (really Sothink Quicker(30 bucks)) Basicly It would allow you to mount the Flash EMU and then post it anywhere. That migh tbe a cool thing to put on your blog, The game you've been programing. I am a little worried about how legal it is to do so. I am also not sure if Flash is up to the task? I have been reading the Stella menaual(almost as old as I am lol) As well as Dragonstomper's programing workshop. Still, I have been thinking it would rock. Maybe I am wrong here? In anyevent how doable is it? What do I need to know and where can I get that information? Looking forward to what ever you all have to say about it. Thank you all for your time. Garland Have a wonderful day.
vdub_bobby
It would be completely legal to write, distribute, (sell?) a Flash emulator. Distributing ROMs is another story, though.
Atari-Jess
It would be easier to code the emulator in java...
Bucket
Downloading Java applets can be cumbersome, though, and that puts people off. Not to mention it's got a bad rep for making your computer approximately 13.5x more vulnerable to malicious code. Flash, however, is an adorable flailing marmoset that any family is eager to invite into the home.
jbanes
Not to mention it's got a bad rep for making your computer approximately 13.5x more vulnerable to malicious code. Whoever told you that, lied. ActiveX on the other hand...
mos6507
Shockwave can have compiled code in it. That's what Digital Eclipse used for the Midway/Williams stuff on Shockwave.com. Flash is not compiled. It would be too slow to run an emulator. Java might work these days. It's fast enough to run more conventional coinop emulations.
