Dragnerok X
Hello, I came up with a really good game idea recently which I think would make a good jump into asm for me (or a good project for someone ). (I just finished making a GUI of sorts in batari basic) I would like your opinions on this concept which I put together about a week ago. Here's a mock-up. I call it combat world. Basically it is the same combat we all know and love, but takes advantage of some of the new-found programming tricks we've aquired over the last couple of years. It features terrain like in combat two but instead of using playfield blocks for terrain, it uses sprites. Notice how all of the terrain-based sprites (everything but the players) are on their own vertical space. That way ONLY if both players were on the same scanline as a terrain based sprite it would resort to light flicker (ala dark chambers). This game also features a radar (similar to that of battlezone) using playfield blocks for the border and missiles for the dots. This game also takes advantage of scrolling to "open up" the playfield. The other tank to compensate for the scrolling would be a.i. controlled. So tell me, is this possible? If not, what could I do to make this feasible and if so, what could I do to make it better? combat_world.bmp Edited August 5, 2006 by Dragnerok X

I don't know, but if you really want to do it, you won't mind the difficulties! Michael Rideout

Michael Rideout I guess the question I'm REALLY asking is basically CAN IT BE DONE as in is this feasible with the hardware the vcs has. Dragnerok X
I guess the question I'm REALLY asking is basically CAN IT BE DONE as in is this feasible with the hardware the vcs has. Oh, I just realized something, you answered my question the first time! Ignore the previous post because I wasn't paying attention . Oh well, I guess this gives me an excuse to revisit my atari asm learning! ( I got about half-way through reading 2600 101 when I discovered batari basic, only now to finish learning it ) Hope to post good news of an appending game soon! ZylonBane
What will you be appending it to?
Dragnerok X
What will you be appending it to? Sorry, I meant "appending" as in "coming". So what I meant to say was "I hope to post news of a game, soon." Sorry for the mis-understanding.
