The_Laird
Lynx - no competition. So, So powerful for its time and unsurpassed for so long too. I don't think there is another console let alone handheld with such a good to bad games ratio.
bones
Gameboy Advance. The sheer number of games available for it from the original, color and advance versions is hard to beat.
Gregory DG
Easily the GBA SP. 1,000's of good games. It's cheap. It's widely available. It's tiny and fits in a shirt pocket. The rechargable battery lasts about 6 hours. It's got great 16-bit looking graphics. Definitely the GBA SP. I love the Lynx, but it's got less than 100 games (although many of them are superb.) Plus it's the size of a water ski and not all that portable. And it eats batteries. And the paint flecks off the Lynx I. And it's too early to tell about the DS. It's got some great games though. Not as portable as the SP. The battery doesn't last as long. But it does have wireless networking and a touch screen. Time will tell. EricDeLee
I'm not sure. The three I play the most: Lynx, Turbo Grafx Express and the PSP I liked my Gameboy SP when I had it but a girl friend's kid lost my SP and about 30 games for it. (Left it in a hotel actually... someone got a great gift for Christmas on that little ordeal). I had Dragon Warrior Games, Fianl Fantasy Games, all of the Zelda games I couold find... and more. I can't bring myself to restart that collection. LOL But for the threee above... I play non-stop. The Turbo Grafx Express has gotten the most play from me lately. The Lynx is still my love... but that damned Express sytem is right behind it. The PSP... I love the thing. I'll be even happier when PS1 games are available for play.... ArcadeAction
I think my vote goes to the GameBoy Advance too, as there are currently more GBA titles that I am interested in than DS titles. But that may change of course. Luckily the DS is at least compatible with 1-player GBA titles. I wish I bought a GBA when they were still compatible with the monochrome GameBoy... I'd love to play my old carts that I still have lying around. Altough I own my GP2x for a few months, I haven't really spend much time with mine yet. I am not really interested in emulations and hope a few more original titles will appear for it. The GP2x could well become the ultimate portable in my opinion... only time wil tell if it reaches its potential, for non-emulation players that is. thomasholzer
Tiger game.com just kidding, but I only need three more games for complete collection (Henry, Centipede, Monopoly)
Lord Helmet
GBA-SP. Cheap...tons of good games, small size. It may be the perfect handheld. Granted, I never play mine anymore, to busy with DS games now
RickHarrisMaine
I think the Game Gear had the coolest peripherals for it, pity they didn't put that much effort into the games, because they largely are a load of crap, in my opinion. The Lynx is cool, and I like mine and all, but really, the games are never cheap and never easy to find, so you have to pay a premium for them it would seem. Now if the Lynx had taken a page from the Game Gear playbook and had a "7800 converter" or something like that. I do like the original Game Boy, and the GBA of course, and am presently waiting for the PSP to get some more and better games to try out. But I think I will be saying the original Game Boy is the best ever.
NE146
If it's for game selection.. it has to be the GBA-SP2 (the one with the brighter screen). Since it can play even the original Gameboy titles, it has got to have the hugest library, and the nicest screen to play it as well. No....emulation on the DS/Micro doesn't count. However if you're talking emulation, my nod goes to the GP2X... although the PSP does kill it as far as it's screen goes, so I tend to use that instead. The turbo express is cool.. but I've already played every single Turbografx16/PCE game I've cared about to death already. Lynx.. hey I bought it at launch. It's battery life pissed me off though, and to bring insult to injury the a/c adapter outlet broke off within a year (I've since lost it) so it's batteries or nothing on my first gen. But even back in the day I thought the games were lacking "something". Although I did come to appreciate the classic ports such as Joust, etc. 'Course for me though.. when talking handhelds, I personally prefer the 80's dedicateds with their packaging and overall coolness factor. Hyper Olympic Challenge 5 for the win!
+FujiSkunk
I'm repeating a lot of what's been said, but here goes: Best selection of games: Game Boy Advance Best legacy: Game Boy Personal favorite, just 'cuz: Atari Lynx

n8littlefield
It's going to depend for me how the life of the DS goes. For right now, the GBA as the library is untouched by any other handheld, and the SP2 is a great little machine. However, with the DS Lite and the way it's library is headed, I think in a few years it may be the DS. Considering by years end the DS will have had original Mario, Zelda, Yoshi, Kirby, DK, Star Fox, Metroid and Advance Wars titles it really seems like in the end it could over take the GBA - I'm just not ready to say it has done so yet. sega saturn x
The DS, the GBAs games don't even compare in my opinion.
Atariboy
The Lynx as a choice seems laughable I think. I don't think the revised Game Boy Advance SP can be beat. Has the best lineup of any handheld with the entire Game Boy lineup available. Runner ups would be the DS (Ashame this can't play GB and GBC titles), and the PSP. The GBA has everything beat pretty much just with the excellent Super Nintendo ports, let alone counting in original titles and other classics available to play on it. jesusc
lynx with its 16 colors and its hand ful of games or GBA SP with 32,000 colors and ten times the games to choose from...hmmm. Hard decsision there. For the "ain't I cool, I play stuff you've never heard of crowd" i guess I could see the Lynx, but if i were stuck on an island with a magical AC outlet, I'd have to go with GBA. (well... it depends. Don't batteries float???? If they float I'd take a but load of those, strap them together and make a raft. Then... if needed, I would use the Lynx 1 as an oar. Damn thing is long enough. Or... perhaps play a great game of Battlezone and when the batteries overheat and start leaking, I'll pour the battery acid on the palm tree and eventually make a boat out of that sucker. GBA??? Well... I guess I could bury my head in the sand and make sure the screen is in front of me... I might be able to see it then without the glare of the sun. warmachine
My vote goes to the gba micro. It has thousands of games playable on it, It has awesome battery life, and it seems to be the most durable.
