360 Live users don't forget free Texas Hold Em!

Recommended Posts

From Microsoft:

Microsoft isn't bluffing: Log on to Xbox Live® within the first 48 hours after launch and download Texas Hold 'em completely free of charge! This full-featured poker title for Xbox Live Arcade on Xbox 360™ will launch on Wednesday, August 23, at 0800 GMT (1:00 A.M. Pacific Time).

For 48 hours only—through 0800 GMT (1:00 A.M. Pacific Time) Friday, August 25—as a special limited-time only promotion, all Xbox Live Gold and Silver members can download the game at no charge.Starting at 0801 GMT (1:01 A.M. Pacific Time) Friday, August 25, Texas Hold 'em will be available for 800 Microsoft Points.

I'm looking forward to this game, Looks like 8 people can play at a time.:

Play against real players from around the world.

Not only is Texas Hold 'em free to all gamers, it comes equipped with features that can only be found on Xbox 360. Designed to simulate the risk/reward of real poker gameplay, keep gamers honest, and discourage opponents from betting too recklessly, Texas Hold 'em has an innovative new feature called "Persistent Bankroll."

You can try any Xbox Live Arcade game

with a free demo, available for download

from Xbox Live Marketplace.

Your virtual bankroll is tied to your gamertag and keeps a running tally of your chip count. If you lose all of your chips in a poker game, you'll have to play lower stakes buy-in games to make back your stack and earn your way to the big tables.

Hopefully the servers wont be bogged down. I'm gonna try and snag it as close to 4:00am Eastern as I can.

I'm very sleepy, I had to work 2nd shift today...but with only an hour left until it hits I guess I'll rough it and stay awake and snag it.

Well, 48 hours is quite some time to get it still so you could probably manage to get some sleep in... I'm anxious and I'm staying up to at least download the game on my accounts. :)

Thanks for the reminder! I almost completely forgot about this!

(The game was supposed to be released LAST week, but what the heck, I'll forgive Microsoft just this once!)

Ummm Not unless 8/23 was last week. LOL Where are you getting your information?

Here's an article dated July 13th with the release date.

I'm sure Microsoft will forgive you though Jess.

I stayed up and snagged it! Didn't take long at all. I played a quick singles game and was up to $1,500 and then lost like $1,000 :(

I suck.

I suck as well but got one achievement. I see why it's free now... ;-) but really, it's alright. I guess it's a gift from MS for the already 'owning' 360 users out there :)

It'll be cooler when my friends are online and we're using the cameras....

And here's a list from August 7th stating that Texas Hold 'Em should have been released LAST week!

Shows you who's in the know eh? At least the last one has a disclaimer that there dates aren't official.

I don't think those lists are unreasonable. Microsoft told us that they were going to release a game every Wednesday through the summer. When I logged onto Xbox Live last Wednesday and found no game waiting for me there, I was more than a little confused.

Nah, There's where you and apparently those sites got confused. Microsoft in fact stated back in July when the original announcement was made:

Canessa added that Microsoft is not “absolutely, 100 percent committing” to releasing a new title over Xbox Live Arcade each Wednesday, but that the goal remains to “drastically” increase the volume of arcade titles available. “There may be a week that we skip,” noted Canessa, “and then a week where we do two titles in a week.”

I'd say they have stuck to their original and offical word. Even the Arcade Wendesday page on xbox Live doesn't state that a new game would be released every week....Not sure where those sites were getting their information. Doesn't seem like there would be any confusion after MS reps make statements like the one above. It does suck that people pass on false information like that. In any case MS did release new Arcade content last week, unfortunately it was just picture packs.
