I remember seeing PS2s going for $2,500 and more during the Christmas ebay craze. I'm guessing this will be an even hotter item, so I'll estimate $3000 to $4000 at the absolute upper end.

Edit: And the reason it will be like that is because the stores will once again create situations where only the scalpers can get the systems.

Buying a game system at or near launch is stupid.

First you have to deal with inflated prices becasue everyone thinks that if they don't get the system now they'll never get one and because of 'production shortages'.

Second is that more often than not the first batch of hardware will have problems, look at the PS1, DC, PS2, X Box, PSP, and X Box 360 though Nintendo seems to be mostly immune to these problems due to their quality control.

Third is slim pickings of games with many of the games in the launch window being little more than last gen's games with prettier graphics or glorified tech demos. If you're lucky you might find a handful of gems.

You only have to make the NES once for your company to learn something about quality control issues.

I chose more than $4000, because some people are reallly, really dumb.

Nintendo had to use the VCR design (along with R.O.B.) for the NES to originally to trick retailers into initally carrying the NES in 1985 and early 1986 due to the crash since no one wanted to carry a 'video game console'. Besides the only issue with the toaster NES are the pins which can be easily bent back into place or replaced.

I plan to scalp at least one. Ironically I'm to using the money made to put towards a new HD TV on which I'll play my 360 and possibly Wii.

Not a bad plan if you mange to get one.

Well I was the 1st one to pre-order at FYE closest to me back in February. I'm hoping they honor it and call me 1st. They got 5 360 when they came out. Hopefully they'll at least have my PS3.

The spring-tray wasn't needed, IMO. It looked diffrent enough already.

And ROB was out in Japan first, so he wasn't concocted just to dodge anti-video-game sentiment. Gyromite was one of the un-localized games(the titlescreen doesn't even match the label), as well as a Famicom adapter game(and the one with the highest japanese+adapter vs native US ratio by most counts).

I had originally put $1500. That was what I'm thinking the aveage price on eBay will be....but yeah if you're talking about how high, I'd definately say there will be a couple rich ass fools with too much cash and bratty kids that'll pay 4 times that amount.

Won't affect me none in the least cause I plan to get the new Nintendo when it's released. Since I'm not in a hurry to get the new Nintendo, I have no problem waiting awaile if it becomes sold out either. i'd rather have patience and save tons of $$$.lol I do plan to get a Flashback 3 if it is released too.

I remember when the PS2 first come out, and the shortage of those, the day of launch, there were a bunch of systems on Ebay that hit up to $15,000 (yes, that's fifteen THOUSAND dollars) But Untill the end of the year, the systems still regularly sold well over a thousand. In fact, I got one, just after christmas, and sold it for three times what I bought it for.

I was thinking I'd never buy the PS3, but personally, I'll probably buy one, with the knowledge of the shortage, with the soul intent of reselling that thing. Even if it's only say $1000, you still make $400, and that's not to bad, considering that'll go towards a reasonable priced console probably.

I think I'm gonna pre-order 4 of the PS3's and use the money to pay for all my Christmas presants for my kids and family as long as the shortage becomes a reality. Worste case I can return them for a full cash refund. And the rest of the cash I make from them will pay off my new living room set (only worth $1500) and my Wii stuff I buy.
