No. I simply don't buy movies. They are the most worthless thing to buy in my humble opinion :P

At least for me.. 98% of them I watch once. And that's it. I have zero desire to ever see it again.. and why should I when I know what happens. That's why I dont buy movies ;)

This same question popped into my mind for myself, that is.

I think I would probably continue buying the normal DVD\'s. My new tv only goes up to 1080i and we honestly do not know how the format wars are gonna end up. So I figured I\'d just wait a few years and see what happens.

There are a few current and future releases I would buy on DVD if I wasn't planning on getting a PS3.

Are you just assuming that eventually, everything will be released on Blu-Ray? Or do you look at lists to decide? If something is instead going to be on HD-DVD and not Blu-Ray, are you going to just get the DVD, or wait and see if a Blu-Ray version comes out?

I don't plan to get a PS3 any time soon (or any other Blu-Ray/HD-DVD player for that matter), but if I were, then I'd probably hold back on buying ANY DVD at all until I knew what the HD plans were.

If I were buying a PS3, then yes, I would actually wait before buying a bunch of movies. I suppose if something is a real limited release (like the DVD release of the original versions of Starwars) maybe I'd jump on them, but otherwise I'd hold off. Afterall, the less you spend on movies, the more games you can afford :)

Same here.

There's some stuff, like the Star Wars releases, that's got little chance of being released in HD for the forseeable future. Other than that, what's a few months more?

But I'm waiting for a price cut or 3 on the PS3. And for the format war to end.

I'm not gonna be spending cash for BluRay AND HD-DVD(actually, until they come down in price, not on either), and at least one licensing body is refusing to license dual-mode players.

"Only" 1080i?

I just look to see what studio made the film and if they're in the hd-dvd camp I buy the dvd. I'm mostly waiting to see how much new Disney stuff makes it to blue-ray, like Cars and The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe.

You gotta remember1080i = half the stated resolution, and 540P isn't that much higher than 480P :P Not exactly accurate, but anyhow :P

I'm going to continue on buying DVDs. Since the PS3 will be able to read them, I really have no reason to buy Blu-Ray movies until have a HDTV. I need to buy one that will go up to 1080p. Brand wise, I'm most likely going to get a Samsung. But I would focus mostly on getting games and a few controllers before picking up movies.

There were only two televisions that did 1080p and they were both smaller size and one of them was not even in stock. The salesman (an infinite fount of knowledge I\'m sure) said that only recentally have the larger widescreen LCDs/Plasma displays have started to support 1080p.
