wasnt easy piracy one of the factors that led to the playstation becoming number 1 in the industry in the first place?

No. It wasn't even that easy, since it required a mod chip. It was more that Nintendo was late and Sega was overpriced AND launched before they were ready to avoid being late.

Its funny this piracy issue. I've only met one person who ever pirated current gen games. For the most part its known to be a major pain in the ass. Right now I can get used games for about the same price it would cost to pirate a game, get the manual, print the cover, and buy cases.

People (gamers especially) are very anal and like their stuff to look nice.

Emulators on the other had, I'm all for. There are plenty of games that will never be available VIA download services. And just last night I deleted a bunch of my MAME roms since I got an X-Box and the compilations (Capcom, Tecmo, Taito, atari, well the games with digital control)

Years from now, when people start to take an interest in old firmware versions, I wonder if this initial version will be lost. There won't be many of these consoles with the original firmware, and even the launch titles are going to flash over it.

Hmm... You may be on to something.

Someone should put it into a disc, or something.
