Albert
La Palma, California: Seller listed two PS3s on Craigslist and met two people at 1am at a Mcdonalds to sell them both for $5,000. Was subsequently sprayed with pepper spray and the thieves made off with both of the systems. This was earlier today (Monday). http://cbs2.com/topstories/local_story_324085857.html ..Al
jbanes
Was subsequently sprayed with pepper spray Ouch! Albert scooped me! Oh, and the pepper spray probably hurt too. This guy obviously wasn't paying attention when he was given the rules for safe, real-life transactions. The entire idea of meeting in a public place is to do so when there are other people around. McDonalds at 1:00 AM probably wasn't the best place to find more people. P.S. Shouldn't this be in our shiny new PS3 forum?

bust3dstr8
The PS3 is amazing. I don't even own one and it can still entertain me. Edited November 20, 2006 by bust3dstr8

Albert
P.S. Shouldn't this be in our shiny new PS3 forum? Yes, that was my intent when I posted it, but I obviously screwed that up. ..Al

SteveW
I just can't feel sorry for the guy. Dumbass buys a couple PS3 units with the sole intention of reselling them, posts them on Craigslist (probably because eBay is packed full of PS3 auctions from other assholes with the same idea) and then decided to meet a couple of morons who agreed to pay a small fortune for them in the middle of the night. I doubt the McDonalds interior restaurant was open at 1am, so he probably tried the exchange in it's dimly lit parking lot. He deserved to lose the $1200 he paid for the consoles. The guy was an idiot, and in my personal belief system stupidity has to be punished, otherwise idiots won't learn.
Avid Fan
I agree totally. I wouldnt even get out of my car in a dimly lit McDonalds parking lot, let alone to sell anything of value, no matter how big or small

Unfortunately, while this fellow may have learned something from his stupidity, most others won't. These people always have to learn the hard way. And often the lesson needs to be taught more than once for it to sink in. But on the bright side, the PS3 launch has been very entertaining! Red 5
See what GREED will get you?? I am so sick of this talk. Yes, I see what greed gets you. It gets you to plan on mugging someone with pepper spray to steal a toy in a parking lot. The greed of needing a PS3 so bad you will resort to crime and assaulting someone just to play a game. THAT is where the problem is here. Not with people selling it. The guy was dumb for selling it in a parking lot at 1am. He wasn't dumb for trying to sell it. SteveW
The sad part was, the guys who stole the consoles from him probably ended up putting them on eBay like damn near every other person who 'owns' a PS3.

King_Salamon
I hope the person who took the systems keeps one for their own use and finds out the system's a brick (DOA). LOL! Can't feel sorry for the stupidity of others in this case, and even better, I will learn from other's mistakes.
SteveW
I'd say that the cops should look up PS3 eBay auctions for that area to try and locate the suspects, but they'd have a hard time looking through 4000 auctions just for that town alone. It could always start a trend... aquire a PS3 either by auction, theft, or purchase, resell on eBay to someone else who'll themselves resell it, and so on. In 20 years there'll be tens of thousands of launch PS3s still unopened, but non-functional because of damages during constant shipping. dalton4life
I can't believe a console that I don't own and have only played for about 15 minutes has provided me with so much quality entertainment.
