devils advocate
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=206...amp;refer=japan Looks like a few people with the power to change things were not so happy with the PS3 launch!
MegaManFan
Cool. It's not very often I agree with or even care about corporate politics but somebody's head definitely needed to be on the chopping block after the way they bungled this launch and if Kaz moves up because of it I'm happy for him AND for Sony's business prospects as well. As the article indicates he knows the market here as well or better than anybody in Japan, and this can only mean good things for us as consumers long term. +swlovinist
This is good for the future of the company. Sony has alot riding on the success of the PS3. They dont have alot of wiggle room to screw up anymore.
Lauren Tyler
On the contrary, he's not dead, he's now the head of the entire SCEI company instead of just the Japan branch. Sony, get rid of him before he does to you what Jack Tramiel did to Atari! Edited December 1, 2006 by LarcenTyler

JB
``Kutaragi will focus on overseeing the entire operation rather than day-to-day business,'' said Nanako Kato, Sony Computer Entertainment's spokeswoman. His position at ``the top of the management doesn't change.'' He didn't get demoted. He got PROmoted. They made up a new job specifically for the purpose of insulating him from things. ... It's actually sad. Everything I've seen gives me the impression he doesn't WANT to be management. It looks to me like he actually wants to be "in the trenches" actually designing hardware and such, and as far from the public as he can get. In essence, the success of the Playstation ruined his job.
