I was I think around 8 years old or so. A friend of mine who lived on my street who was quite a bit older then me had one. More often then no when we hung out and played games it was his NES we played(he had damn near every game ever made for it) but on a few occasions he busted out the 2600, it was only just this year I finally got one for myself. :P

It would be way back,i remember going round a school friends house and playing on an Atari 2600 (VCS) for the first time and that would be the early stages at high school (82-87).So it would be in the early part probably 82/83 which means as i was born in1971 that i would either have been 11 or 12.

Good memories though of Missile command,Pacman,Pele`s Soccer,Space Invaders.

4-6 years old when my sisters got the woodgrain model. Before that, I remember being a toddler and messing with some of the dedicated 'Pong' machines, namely a strange set-up with a light gun and a discounted Odyssey. My brothers, mom, and aunts seemed to enjoy those along with a few drinks, heh.

I first got a 2600 when I was like 8, but no switch box so we never got to play it. But man was I fascinated by it... video games from before nintendo what could they be like? and in the end I discovered..... not bad games like asteroids and space invaders were just as good as one should expect.

I got mine, a Darth Vader-Model, for Christmas 1982 (was seven Years old then). It came with Pac-Man. I'm still glad that my Mom bought it although it was not on my Wishlist; in fact, I didn't know that the Console existed until I got one :-D.

Seems a lot of People in Germany started in that Year '82, `cause the Console wasn't released here as early as in the States. Often you bought your Stuff through Mailorder-Catalogues like Quelle, Neckermann or Otto: I was always happy when a new Catalogue arrived to see new Games for "my" Console (but was as often disappointed when looking at the Prices :( ..): A new Game costed about 130 DM - about 65 Dollars, I think. Later, when the 2600 wasn't the hot Stuff anymore - at least in the Eyes of most Customers - you could get original Games for about 40 DM as silver or red Labels (must have been around '84-'88).

In Germany, you could often find the (in)famous Clones of those Mailorders Dealers as a cheaper Alternative: those were e.g. 20 DM for the Quelle-Version of Enduro (Super-Ferrari), but most of the Times these were no clones of the "Hit-Games"...

Mid-80s, since about 2 or whenever I could hold the controller, my parents had one when I was born. Got a bunch cheap during the crash. My dad was a local Pac-Man champion, but he played VCS Pac with me haha must have been painful for him.

Then the Christmas of '87 we got an NES Action Set, so the VCS took a bit of a back seat as I was super enamoured with Super Mario Bros.

I was 9 years old and it was 1981 in a friends house. One year later, i get my first own Atari VCS-2600, which i still have here and in which the Harmony now runs. It was a "darth vader" model, therefore i always had a special connection to this total-black edition.
