Lauren Tyler
The best known spinoff is the infamous Puzzle Bobble/Bust-A-Move series, but the original is still the best. Although that freakin' soundtrack drives me crazy!

I don't like the original at all, I always thought Bubble Bobble was the much better sequel.
vdub_bobby
This is a fun game, though it gets repetitive after a while, and some levels are just crazy hard. Last summer my brother and I played it through for about 3 hours and beat it (though we had to look up in a FAQ how to finally beat it). Took a lot of continues. I *love* two-player-simultaneous games, and this one is a fun one.

vdub_bobby
The horror! The horror! The horror is that it isn't worth that many points. You'd think a giant diamond would be worth some real points, maybe 10,000 or more, but no, a measly 1000.

vdub_bobby
I was playing the other night and got the giant diamond and maybe it is worth 10,000 points - I wasn't looking closely, but I thought I saw an extra zero in there. I'll clean up the rankings and scores tomorrow.
in the dark
Bubble Bobble is the game that started the gamer passion in me. I picked it up out of a Bargain bin special not knowing what it was. My daughter was around five at the time. That started the whole video game craze at my house as we played for hours on end in two player mode. The game at that time was for a commodore 64. We later got an NES and this was one of the first games we purchased for the system. I will have to say that this, for me, is one of the best versions of the games. Cybergoth
Do you think it's even better than the C64 version?
in the dark
Do you think it's even better than the C64 version? You know, it has been so long since I played the C64 version that I probably could not give you a good answer to that. I just know that after playing the NES version I had to say to myself that this is the one. It is better than the one for the GBA. I think what really hooked us on the C64 was the unpredictable variety of things that fell down from the top when some things just fell into place. It led to some memorable moments. I think that the NES one felt like the C64 version in those ways. There are some versions of the game out there that seem to change in that part of the gameplay. Your question made me sit and think about an answer. That is why it has taken me this long just to respond. There are some strong nostalgic feelings when it comes to thinking about the C64 version just because of the great times my daughter and I had with that game.
