Antneed Posted December 21, 2006 Share Posted December 21, 2006 (edited) The wife & I were at Walmart picking up some things on Sunday evening.....when I hear over the PA system..."attention customers, we have one PS3 premium system in stock in the electronics dept"...then again he repeats it twice...................I look at my wife and say, what do you think should I buy it and try to sell it on eBay etc..........so as she was browsing away shopping, she says Im not sure, I dont know...etc. etc..... So, I tell her i'll be right back.......now remember about 5-10 mins have since passed since the initial announcement..........so I trot (RUN!) over to the electronics section....and I see one employee who is carrying the PS3 box into the register area.........and I was like DAMM....its sold already...........so I'm standing at the counter to whats going on.....the other employee grabs the phone/PA mic and again announces "att: we have one PS3 system etc etc"...........as soon as I heard him say that......I go to the other kid (employee) and ask him so the system is still for sale?....and he says yes! I couldn't believe it!!! I said I'll take it!!! I whipped out my credit card and paid for it......the other employee then announces sorry customers the PS3 is now sold"....... I had them DOUBLE bag it so noone sees me walking around with a PS3..........by that time....there were alot of people around the electronic counter..........i paid and walked off with a PS3....I couldn't believe it.............I went back to the wife and told her we have to get outta here before we get mugged or something!!! I'm not sure what I want to do yet, to keep or to sell it....is the $1,000 question....so far the launch titles are nothing spectaular...but the system has alot of potential!!! Next Friday I'm going to try my luck at getting one, and actually playing it rather than making money. After the holidays I plan on getting a HDTV since its usually a great time for deals. You might rent games for now, as having the console seems to be half the battle in the rental world anyway. My wife was standing in Wal-Mart near the electronics section when she saw someone walking out with a PS3. When she asked the man about it he said they just put 3 on the shelf seconds ago. My wife walked over and picked the second one up, and the third one was gone a few seconds after that. Right place, right time I guess. The OKC Craigslist has PS3s for right around cost that aren't selling. The people that held on to them this long may end up putting them under their trees. I asked if they had Wii's (just out of curiousity) and the lady said "no, but we have one PS3". I said "really?", and she said "yeah, want it?".
