Me and my dad built the wooden "enclosure" in his basement woodshop, using an old 2-foot wide board we found, and the top from a school desk..

This thing uses tongue & groove construction, and countersunk screws.. I believe it could support a 500lb monitor.. Its also quite heavy.. Ive often thought of adding legs, wheels, and a lower shelf to it, but never have....
