Albert Posted January 21, 2004 Share Posted January 21, 2004 For those of you who want to stay on the bleeding edge of Atari Jaguar emulation, a new version of the Virtual Jaguar emulator has been posted. This is an "unofficial, straight-from-the-butcher" Win32 CVS binary, meaning it's built straight from the current source code and has not received as much testing as an official release might. Does VJ support JagLink via the PC's serial port? so you could say hook it up to a real jag or other PC's running VJ via serial and play network games? I like the idea of playing Combat on a Jag emulator, which would also be running in Virtual PC 6 on a Mac. I'd like to see how many layers of emulation I can get. Actually, that's not such a bad idea. Assuming the serial protocol on the Jaguar side is fairly standard, it shouldn't be too difficult to implement... But first things first (cough CD cough)! You can make the Jag output RS232 with nothing more than a Jaglink (voltage level-shifter), an appropriately-constructed cable and some cunning programming (as evidenced by JUGS and a couple of UGD demos) but I don't know whether you could mangle the PC hardware into producing a signal the Jag would be happy with in the same way you can make the Jag output to a PC.
