Now taking orders for the Jaguar Extremist Pack #2!

The Jaguar Extremist Pack #2 contains 3 rare Jaguar/PC CD's. Pack #2 contains Blue Lightning Beta 4/13/95, Teque's F1 Racer

11/23/95 (most complete beta of F1) and the Interactive Rocky Horror Show. Blue Lightning and F1 Racer Unencrypted run only

on a Jaguar CD player with a bypass cart. The Interactive Rocky Horror Show runs on a PC.

Blue Lightning Beta 4/13/95 - This is the prize of the pack in my opinion. It is an early version of Blue Lightning that is

complete. What makes it special is it has "hard coded" various pilot profiles in it with all missions available and open for

playing.

Teque's F1 Racer 11/23/95 - This is the most complete F1 Racer beta and is different from the releases B&C has put out.

The Interactive Rocky Horror Show - This is a video demo that shows screenshots from what I believe would have been a Jaguar

version of this game. Plenty of fun to watch and requires Quicktime to run on your PC.

Here is the release process for Pack #2:

- Sales begin today Friday February 27th and ends Monday March 15th at midnight.

- No more orders will be taken after March 15th. Don't ask, don't beg, don't bribe, it won't happen.

- You must PAY for your Extremist pack(s) before March 15th. You can pay through PayPal using my e-mail address "jmsmith8

@cox.net" or you can pay via money order/cashier's check.

- If you pay by money order or cashier's check the payment MUST be postmarked March 15th or earlier. If it is not, I will

return your payment and you will not receive an Extremist pack.

- Please e-mail me to tell me how many Extremist packs you are buying and how you will be paying (I'll send you my mailing

address for money order/cashier's check). I'm using the e-mail to track and register your copies.

- The Extremist packs are $34.00 each (Priority Mail/Delivery Confirmation) including shipping in the US. For multiple

orders add $31.00 for each additional pack you would like. For international buyers the pack with shipping is $40.00 (Global

Priority Mail 4-6 days). However, international buyers have the option of having me hold their packs and combining with

other packs to save on shipping. International buyers should e-mail me for pricing if they are ordering more than one pack.

At present, I am planning on releasing 1 other pack. Pack #3 should be ready for sale in early April. Details of the pack

and the release process will not be revealed until the packs go on sale. Each unit of pack #3 will be hand numbered and have

a limited production run. ALL people who buy BOTH pack #1 and #2 are guaranteed to have the opportunity to purchase ONE copy

of pack #3. Expect pack #3 to be priced slightly higher than packs #1 and #2.

As always a big thanks to Kevin Manne for the artwork of all the packs. In addition thank you to all of you who ordered pack

#1. If sales had not been as successful as they were I may not have conintued on this project. Your support is appreciated

and will allow for the release of future projects. Lastly, thanks to the crew at TAEX. Atari Jaguar FOREVER!

i have a stupid question. i missed out on the 1st extremist pack. is there anyway i could obtain one/ will you be re releasing them?

I'm sorry to say I won't be re-releasing them, however several buyers bought multiple copies so I'm guessing you'll see them for sale in the future. If you're overseas, I'm pretty sure Nick Harlow is planning on having some for sale at the EuroJagFest or using them for prizes there. I'm also suspecting there will be some available as prizes at AGE and/or CGE. :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Thanks David (and Nick). Glad you liked them. Expect pack #3 around the end of April. These are going to take a little longer to put together due to some nice surprises in them. For those of you who purchased pack #1 and pack #2 you are guaranteed an opportunity to purchase pack #3. :) Thanks to all for the support.

I just received my pack in the mail yesterday. F1 was a great choice for a pack-in -- and it's nice to finally see a decent racer on the Jag -- and the other games are lots of fun. #2 gets a big    from me.

I too, like F1, but except for some VERY slight differences in the texture mapping on the cars and some actual track names (instead of just the country)&picture screens for the tracks, it's IDENTICAL to World Tour Racing which has been out for years; so I don't know what you mean about "finally" seeing a decent Jaguar racer. As a matter of fact, this version is LESS complete in that it's missing a few of the tracks in WTR; F1 has 12 tracks and 4 "fantasy" courses that were never done and the other tracks are just used again, WTR has 16 tracks total. So since you DO like F1, it might be worth it to you to now buy WTR to get the 4 extra tracks...

I've never played WTR; it's been on my "get" list for the Jag. I was comparing F1 to the Jag's other crappy racers ("Checkered Flag", "Club Drive"). :)

Well, now you know what WTR is like and you can decide "to get" it or not, since basically you'll get the same thing you have now, but with 4 new tracks. ;) Since you have never played WTR though, here's something that works on F1 too, which will smooth out that frame rate a bit; press the "8" key on the keypad to remove the road texturing ( in WTR it is the opposite, you press "8" to GET the T-mapping on the roadway). It only speeds up the frame rate by about 2 or 3 frames a second, so you'll have to decide if you like the speed increase more, or the textured road more, but it's definately a big plus for 2 player mode. The different camera angles effect the frame rates by about 2-3 FPS too, the cockpit view being the fastest, the close behind the car being the slowest, and far behind in-between. The cockpit view WITH road textures is about as fast as the outside views without textures. Try out cockpit view without the road textures, but you better make sure you're wearing your seatbelt!! :D

Really? In my version(which is now broke. :( ) hitting 8 toggles texture mapping on/off. And on mine it seemed to make absolutely no difference in speed or framerate. :?

Really? You NEVER noticed any difference in speed? Well, you must be half blind or something then (no slur intended)...if that's the case; that you can't tell the difference in the frame rate, then I have a couple real smooth games I'd like to sell you; Supercross 3D and Checkered Flag; in your case you should'nt notice any difference at all when comparing these game's speed to say...Battlesphere or something...

Why do you think they have the option to turn on/off T-mapping at all then? That's not something they'd do if it made not difference at all...I'm here to tell you it makes a VERY NOTICABLE difference in the frame-rate whether you detect it or not. So, seems you aren't quite the "master of the obvious" that you claim to be; the difference is quite visible and obvious to me... :D

I played the hell out of that game. Toggling the textures on/off to me seemed like they were trying to speed things up by allowing that option. But I swear to god I have never noticed a difference in speed. And I've really looked for it a million times. Doesn't mean there isn't one. Just means I didn't notice it. Maybe I am going blind. :?

Not that the frame rate is bad with the textures on. It does pretty well for a first gen Jag racer, and I love the game. And I state so in my most humble review on TAEX. Well, I think its the first attempt by those programmers on the Jag.

Sorry about the double post, but I'm powerful afraid of using the 'edit' button on this board.

Yes, your are right, it isn't that bad with the textures on anyway, and it is only a slight increase, 2-3 FPS is a guess of course, but try this; on a straight area of the track, with textures on, swerve back and forth a couple of times, then try it again right away with the textures off, I think you will notice how the car reacts a bit faster, this is a sign of the graphics engine's speed increase without the textures. I can totally tell a difference in speed between the different views and textures on/off, but I still play in all views with textures on and off at different times and the game is fun regardless. But I can control the car better and do better without the textures generally because it's more responsive. The most noticable difference, which you might try also, is the close-behind-view with textures on compared to the cockpit view with textures turned off, there is a frame rate difference of about 3-6FPS between the two and you will most definately notice a difference in 2 player mode which already runs at a slower frame rate, with and without textures.
