NinjaWarrior
This got me thinking about the 5200 Controller deal..Can someone Hack a Super NES controller add a Number Pad in the Middle will it work
Lord Helmet
No. The NES pad is digital, and the 5200 is analog.
JB
No. The NES pad is digital, and the 5200 is analog. Hasn't stopped other systems(Atari2600/7800, Sega Master System/Genesis adapters mainly). The bigger problem is the NES and SNES pad outputs a serial data stream that's more complex to read and decode than the pin-per-button output of most DB9 controllers. Even then, there've been DualShock adapters. It COULD be done.
Lord Helmet
I guess I should have said...there isn't an EASY way to do it. With the Redemption adapter available...why would you need a modded NES controller to begin with?
Atari5200
or if there was a way to get a Neo Geo CD pad to work, since it has the same size plug in.
Shawn
Any pad can be made work for any other system. It's just a matter of how much time and effort you want to put into the project. And yes with a couple hours worth of work the SNES or NES controller can work on the 5200.
JB
or if there was a way to get a Neo Geo CD pad to work, since it has the same size plug in. NGCD pad is straight button to pin, just like a 2600/SMS controller.http://www.gamesx.com/controldata/neocont.htm The fact that it uses a 15-pin D connector is useless, but it's simple enough to adapt it to an existing digital adapter. Of course, the fact that they only support 2 buttons instead of all 6 makes it less interesting. It'd require more work to make all 6 buttons function, but having start, pause, *, and # readily available would be nice.
