Shawn Jefferson
I have several .o file and they are much smaller than the normal .lnx roms. How do you turn a .o file into a .lnx file? They act the same in HANDY... An .o file is an "object" file, which is basically a fancy way of saying it's a small binary file (usually smaller than the lynx's 64k RAM size) that HANDY can load directly into RAM and execute. To use it on a REAL Lynx, you would have to build it into a cartridge, with a proper encrypted loader, etc.. Which brings us to the second part of your question. The lnx file is a cartridge image, usually with a small header attached for HANDY's use. PS. Forgot to mention that you can load it onto a real lynx with a BLL cable from your PC and loader (some games have the loader built in, Alpine Games for instance.) 4ever2600
So basically, unless you can program for the lynx, having an .o file isn't going to do you a lot of good... Unless you had the proper encryption stuff etc...? Thanks for the definition BTW...
Nimtene
On Matthias Domin's Lynx Page, are many useful lynx tools. You can find Lynxer, which will allow you to convert *.o files to *.lyx files. Then, when you download the Lynx Emulator, Handy, it comes with a program called 'make_lnx.exe', which will allow you to convert *.lyx files to *.lnx files. But assuming you're planning to burn the file to an Eprom, this isn't needed. Edited June 13, 2007 by Nimtene
