Let's face it.. for certain games, the 5200 sticks SUCK. OK, I'll be honest here.. "for most games they suck". I opened up my 5200 stick and disconnected the horizontal pot I spliced in a potentiometer from a 2600 Paddle Controller and voila.. It worked perfectly. The only problem is.. how do I mount the pot. I had to use a dremel tool to carve a groove in the 5200 plate because there was a tab sticking up on the pot. I then used JB Weld to mount it permanently inside the 5200 controller casing. I also snipped off the 1st couple of rings of the accordion rubber cover on the 5200 stick to allow clearance for the paddle. The results... It works great for Kaboom! and Super Breakout and Pole Position (except for shifting). The other games like Space Invaders and Galaxian don't work so well and games like Pitfall.. forget it.
