tjlazer
I just got a 1200XL that had 2 bad keys, U and Z. I managed to get U working OK but it's not 100%. Z is another story. It is DEAD. If I do press it at an angle it will somewhat work, but it doesn't seem to want to loosen up. On my old 1200 I had a dozen keys that were bad, but just pressing on them over and over seemed to do this trick. I know there is a writeup on fixing the keyboard connector, but I don't think this will help in this situation with one dead key, will it? I bet it will fix the dead key(s). Yours probably has oxidation issues with the individual keypad more than the main connector contacts. I have a 1200XL keyboard here that has 1 broken off keycap. Il send it to you if you pay shipping. You can take them apart and take 3 bad ones and make 2 good, (as long as 2 of the keyboards dont have the same broken key.) The keyboard Ive got has the down-arrow (equal sign) key broke.
