Allas
Interesting, maybe it be interesting to know what year is from. Really is good to see a Turrican demo, even on a initial stage of developing.

It's impressive!!! Looks very RAW to me .... perhaps not finishable. But, in the range of Speccy conversions, that version easily might be possible on the a8. Sikor
It's early fresh rerelase of old code. Engine is about 95% complete. All sprites was created. No music, no graphics yet finished at all.
pseudografx
That looks really awesome! Is the background a text mode or a graphics mode? How many sprites does the engine handle? And will this run on a basic 64kB machine? Keeping my fingers crossed for the developers!

Pecus
Xvid (no audio). - Background is in text mode witch horizontal and vertical scrolling. - 6-8 software sprites (8x16 pixels in 4(5) colours) - standard 64kB Atari.
Heaven/TQA
not bad at all... the level looks familiar. It looks more like the ST version regarding FPS... I suspect that the engine uses the hardscroll feature but not big playfields (LMS)?
pseudografx
Does the engine run at 50 fps, or just 25? The AVI is captured at 25, but that doesn't mean anything Edited September 10, 2007 by pseudografx
Tezz
["http://www.saender.art.pl/turican.avi"] Hi all, been away in Europe for a while and have just got back and seen this new thread, it seems the link for the avi is now dead, does anyone have the avi so us late arrivals to the thread can check it out? I'm excited to read that so much was already done on it, sounds great. Edited September 11, 2007 by Tezz

pirx
Interesting, maybe it be interesting to know what year is from. It was 1992/1993 as far as I can remember. Please note all credits for code go to Btronic.
pirx
Does the engine run at 50 fps, or just 25? The AVI is captured at 25, but that doesn't mean anything Engine goes 50FPS with very small number of sprites on the screen. Please note the main character is animated separately (it is a regular sprite) and is always 50FPS despite the, possibly, slower background. So even when FPS goes down the overall experience is not that bad. Looks very RAW to me .... perhaps not finishable. But, in the range of Speccy conversions, that version easily might be possible on the a8. You are perfectly right emkay... There are possible only two ways to have this game done A. a regular way, B. a miraculous way A. Regular way is when God's angels come to the earth and Gabriel the archangel himself code the rest of the engine, Michael codes the opponents AI with cherubs doing the less important tasks like a menu and top 10 table. I do not need to mention saint Eusebius, patron of lost pixels, converting rest of the levels from C64. B. Miraculous way is when Pecus and I get to work and finish it with help of a musician and some additional gfx.
