Goochman
Ive been kicking around getting a 400 to round out my 8bit collection (dont have a 600XL but its not much different than an 800XL whereas the 400 has that keyboard ) Anyhow - not many advertise 48K and I was wondering how hard or expensive it would be to upgrade one to 48k - would it just be a matter of adding a board or would it require some soldering? There is one on eBay right now advertised at 48K sold as is, but the seller doesnt indicate if it works or not. Anyhow - I can wait for the right deal but am not good at soldering so Id like to know the upgrade process for these.
mimo
If you can't find an official 48k memory board, toy will have to solder the board. Even if you get the offical board, there are a few jumpers that need soldering on the bottom of the motherboard. A 32K upgrade will fit straight in (use an 800 32k board)
Almost Rice
Check with B&C. They might have some new 48K upgrade boards left.
JR>
Yeah, if you can find the board, it's just a matter of soldering 4 VERY simple jumper wires to the bottom of the Mother board. Doesn't take much soldering skill at all.
