Clint Thompson
Having some spare time, I've finally gotten around to cleaning up my XL to a nice bright white and black. (something I've had in mind to do for about a year now). Look at the difference in the first pic. Some people don't care what their equipment look like but I'm different on the other hand. Hopefully I'll get to throw a stereo Pokey job in there and get a 1050 soon, cleaning it up as well. Urchlay
Nice! How'd you get the white part looking so white? Just cleaning, or paint too?
Clint Thompson
Yes, both black and white paint that's supposed to bond to plastic rather well. I'm happy with the results =)
classics
Very nice, what kind of paint did you use? Steve
Clint Thompson
I don't remember off hand... just that it was satin white and black... (not at home).
Pengwin
Looking at these pictures, I might have to give my 800XL a lick of paint too
yorgle
That looks great. Did you lose the texture by painting it?
Clint Thompson
That looks great. Did you lose the texture by painting it? Thanks and thankfully not by much... it's still there and the paint isn't sticky feeling like some paints tend to do after you paint anything plastic.... Roydea6
I have use this paint, seems to work fairly good. Fairly new product, also. http://krylon.com/main/color_product_viewe...age_alt=Krylon® Fusion

I was never trying to go for an official look because it was slightly yellow.... it was my intentions to do the black and white thing... which I felt turned out really great. It has prompted me to get some paint for my badly discolored 400 which no doubt will be way off shade!

mimo
Jeez I just found a supplier of this paint in the UK. £9.99 for one can of paint £8.99 for shipping (they have to use a courier not Royal Snail) at todays exchange rate, thats nearly $40 USD for one can of paint. Ha, my 400 can stay yellow

Marius
In my opinion: the white looks great indeed! Good job. The black is not my choice... It doesn't match with the colors of the keys (brown keys / black case... brrr) and it does not match with the console-key-brown-plastic. I understand your goal: not to get the original, but a fresh new color... perhaps you should find a solution for the keys and that console key thing too. Clint Thompson
(since I get this odd feeling that blogs are easily over-looked and not visited too very often, I'll go ahead and post these here as well since it's just an expansion of the original white/black theme. <-- my sunglasses are on because the blue led's are sooo bright . Chickybaby
I love blue LED's they are my favorites and the white and black reallty make them stand out! I was toying with painting a couple of our systems with designs but didn't know what kind of paint to use that wouldn't flake or peel off from extended wear. ps - Thank you for sharing in this thread since you would be correct that I really don't visit blogs that often. What color is the XEGS case? I like to get my Help, Start, Select, Option and Reset Keys to have the same color as the case like the 65XE and 130XE or get them replaced with Clear Keys.
