The program recorders are fairly simple devices. WRT to using them, in what context? Unlike disks, they is no such thing as a FAT. As such the program counter indicates where the load should start.

So, if you have two programs on the same tape, you will need to know that the first is at, say counter 001 from the start of the tape and the next is at, say counter 100. To load the second tape you need to FF to counter 100 and then load from there.

To save BASIC programs you use the command CSAVE

To load BASIC programs you use the command CLOAD

For binary load you need to hold START and power on the computer. (you might need option if the program doesn't need BASIC).

Enter CLOAD, hear the single BEEP, which prompts you to press PLAY on the recorder, then press any key on the keyboard (well but not RESET okay? :]) and the engine will then start.

For CSAVE it's similar, but you will hear two BEEPs instead of one. That means you have to press RECORD and PLAY simultaneously. If you can't, it's broken.

Well, I managed to get the record button to press.. except I heard something go "snap" on the record button. It presses normally, but is that a bad thing that something under the button snapped?

Nevermind, turns out that for some reason part of the back corner near the cord got snapped off... wonder why that happened? Also, why does it take such excessive force to get the record button to be pressed?

[Edit 2] Ok, so it was a small round piece under the button that broke off. The unit seems to be fine mechanically and such still.
