I just modified one of my NES controllers. You can find a how to around. I think, it may even be listed on this site....cant remember.

Is there any reason we can't figure out a hardware hack to put a different (shall we say, normal) power supply connector in the thing? I mean, someone figure out how to add a 9v battery connector to the 2600(a hack even I was able to perform very easily)......

you mean to add a barrel jack? It's very easy. Hell the positive and negative are marked out right on the motherboard.

In that case, all we need is the specs on the power supply(which I can go look at)... hack it in, and you can pick up a variable(via switch) PS from WalMart. Just checked... output 9v 1 amp.

Then just get a barrel plug at Radio Shack to splice on? part number?

I'd like to see photos of what needs to be done. What PS from walmart would I look for? Maybe I can make one of these locally, rather than buying one online. (i was just going to order one from best electronic)

I used the 1/8" Mono Phone Jack, Part # 274-0251. For consistency, I wired the center as positive like the 2600 power supply.

This is the power supply I bought. Couldn't find it at WalMart.com, but it was about the same price in store as this ad online.

I hate my prolines, going to get the CX78 from B.E. I've also been looking for a cheap working 2600 controller for my 2600 Games.

 

Game wise I love:

+Food Fight

+Ninja Golf

+PacMan Collection (Home Brew)

+Galaga

+Pole Position II (Really, I love this game)

 

I like the others a lot too (Including Water Ski). Finally got a hold of a NIB Xenophobe for $25 and NIB Midnight Mutants for $20 and a hard to believe CIB Winter Games for $1. Can not wait to play those.

 

Of the games I dislike/sold:

+Fight Night (Uggg terrible)

+Ball Blazer (Sure it sounds great, but I did not have fun with it)

Ballblazer is a ton more fun with 2 players.

May be why I did not like, single player experience only for me.

I gotta give some love to Fatal Run. That's a good game. I never could reach the city in time to save all 15 people. Always have 2 or 3 that go up in a puff of smoke.
