Need help with Atari 5200 emulation....

I have the 5200 bios, but I can't get either Virtual Super System or kat5200 to work. I'm just looking for something simple, akin to Stella or Prosystem Emulator.

I just don't know where the rom subdirectories are in the emulator, so I can put the X-Former 2.5 .rom files in. I just wish there was some kind of drag and drop 5200 emulator, like Prosystem for 7800 games.

When you first run the Emulator, a dialogs box will open.You then have to tell the emulator where it can find the roms, this will be wherever you have put them, ie c:downloads/atari/roms or whatever.

Leave OSA as None, OSB as ATARIOSB.ROM, XL/XE as ATARIXL.ROM, 5200 as 5200.ROM and Basic as ATARIBAS.ROM

 

that should get you started.

You will need to use .bin files for the 5200 games (download from AA), in 800xl mode you can use .bin, .rom, .atr, .atx, .pro etc etc

Thanks, I got it working, but I put in a cartridge, and it's now showing an Atari 800 Self-Test screen-do I have to go through all, or any, of those tests before I can play the game?

Go to the Atari menu at the top of the screen and select 5200 from the machine type option or alt+y.
