machf
Yes, those 65XEs with ECI are really nothing more than cut-down 130XEs, they aren't "true" 65XEs...
classics
Yeah, that's weird. I've got seven 1200xls and none of them show the ® symbol. Do you still have the 1200xl you pulled the ROM from? Nope, this was many years ago. Steve
+hunmanik
I'm curious about the logo screen. Could you describe it please. Thanks. Now that I think about it, I am too. Is this some embryonic version of the 1200 OS? Here are the screen shots, normal 1200XL and the 'R5' 1200XL rom. Not sure what other differences there might be. Steve Could one be OS Rev 10 (10/26/82) and the other Rev 11 (12/23/82)? Rev 10 and 11 are both supposed to exist in 1200XL units. But given that the 1200XL didn't ship until March 1983, perhaps the 'R5' is the (rare?) Rev 10 version, and the (normal?) 1200XL has Rev 11? This would make sense, anyway, given the chronology. re-atari
Anyone know what a 900XLFK was supposed to be? Bryan, Check this topic. Curt Vendel explained all about it in post #8. Some of the questions you asked earlier on in this thread are answered there in other posts. re-atari

Steve Is there anywhere a guy can download the 1200XL system roms for throwing into atari++? I've managed to download a 1200XL rom but it seems to be a two-parter (split rom) and it doesn't work with atari++. Defender II
I have a rom marked 1200XL OS R5 which I dumped from a 1200XL with an unusual logo screen. Only 1200XL I've ever seen like it, so it must not have been widely used. Steve Can you send me adump of it?

Rybags
The non ® ROM leaves key IRQs enabled with the Atari display, so pressing keys upsets the rainbow effect. The ® ROM doesn't have the same problem. Also, it didn't seem to work for me if I have the fast SIO patch enabled.

Steve ZIP contains 1200os.rom and 1200osR5.com I was able to boot both to BASIC (cart) with Atari800WinPLus 4.0. ? PEEK(65527) should return the OS version for all XL/XE OS versions. ? PEEK(65527) under 1200os.rom returns 10. So this should be the 1200XL Rev 10 OS dated 10/26/82. ? PEEK(65527) under 1200osR5.rom returns 11. So this should be the 1200XL Rev 11 OS dated 12/23/82. Since I don't own any of these (unfortunately), I don't have much information about these roms. Who can help me? I've got two 16K rom dumps from the 1450XLD. Both ID's are rev.3. The first dated 3/23/1984 comes from the 'Pooldisk Too' CD-ROM (filename: 1540os3.v0) and the second dated 6/21/1984 was send to me by Nir Dary (filename: os1450.128). Main differences between these two are in the first 3K ($C000 - $CBFF). The XL/XE OS rev.3B is from an Atari from Arabia. It's probably based on rev.3. There are changes in the fonts (Arab characters) and several patches in the code. More info at: http://www.savetz.com/vintagecomputers/arabic65xe/ Rev. You mean remove the F keys or something else? I thought I once saw an XE w/o the F keys. Maybe it was a later 65XE. Hmmm Also, the Revision number is listed at $04 and not $05 as the text describes. Can you say print screen? ........... It it also interesting to note that they still call these XL's and not XE's in the source code. The 900XLF was the 65XE was it not? http://www.atarimuseum.com/computers/8bits/xe/65xe/65xe.html Can anyone do a dump of a 65XE and see if it matches Offenga's notes about 7/21/1984? That would imply yet another version of the OS between REV 4 and REV 5 not listed. Someone should track down that Michael Barall fellow He did QDOS (DOS 4.0) too.
