a while ago my star trek cart died and all it does is bring up the atari rainbow with no date and frezes

so i took the chip out of the board

and am wondering how i could go about reprogramming a chip with that rom

assume i know nothing what all equipment do i need for a shopping list it uses a 28 pin chip

is it possible to put in a zif socket and play multiple games? i guess the only ones i could play are single chip games anyone have a list of singlechip games?

You need to buy a 27128 Eprom, erase it, re-program it with an Eprom programer using the startrek.bin file that you'd get online, then unsolder the old eprom, and solder the new eprom onto the PCB board.

Would it not be easier to buy another star trek 5200 game ? You could get one for $5 or $10 on ebay or other sites that have it in stock.

Yea, it probably would be easier to do that. They are pretty cheap.
