jwierer, a couple of quick questions about vbB

I'm making a game using the superchip. I'm using a screen size of 32x32. When I expand the playfield editor size to 32x32 it says in red, on the top of the screen 256 pixels high - 168 pixels too high!

I'm guessing it's no big deal, but is it a bug, or something I'm doing wrong?

Second, how do you set the background color. After selecting the whole background, when I right click to set it, I get an error

Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click

Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If

you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Current cell cannot be set to an invisible cell.

But after I click continue it brings up the color menu, and then I can choose a color. This is running on Vista.

I can't help you with the rest, but if you're talking about simply setting the background color of the Sprite or Playfield editors, you do not have to highlight the whole background (if that's what you mean). You just right click, select Set Background Color, the TIA Color Chart will pop up and you click on the color you want to use.

Well it's no big deal, but it should warn you that it's too high for a non superchip playfield.

Second, how do you set the background color.

Just right click on any area of the playfield and select a background color. You don't have to select anything.

After selecting the whole background, when I right click to set it, I get an error

Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click

Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If

you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Current cell cannot be set to an invisible cell.

I can't replicate that error here. Can you send me the exact steps or PM me the contents of the error?

Thanks,

Jeff

32x32 is such a cycle hog that I haven't ever had any success using it. I still have no idea how Atarius Maximus pulled it off, but from my experience 32x24 is the highest resolution that you can use. When I try to even gosub a playfield definition in 32x32, it goes over on cycles.

I believe the Qbert clone written in bB uses a 32x32 playfield and it plays pretty well.
