Tempest
This may be a dumb question, but is the Atari 810 drive compatible with all Atari software? I know it was Atari's lowest common denominator (SS/SD), so will it work with games/programs from the XL/XE era? I can't see why not, but I've been surprised before... Bryan
It'll work with 99% of what's out there. Obviously there are some DOSes intended for DD/ED drives, and I think there were a couple titles released in ED format. -Bry
Rybags
I can't recall any commercial disk game release that wasn't compatible. Software - maybe not, since there is specialist utilities aimed at double-density drives, 3rd party drives like Indus, etc. But for generic utilities and applications, I doubt anything was made not 810 compatible. Tempest
I'm only concerned with commerical games and a few utilities, nothing out of the ordinary. Good to hear that everything works. I really need to get my 1050 fixed, the 810 is nice but it's HUGE! Tempest
ijor
There are about a handful of titles released in ED in the USA, Atari Planetarium comes to mind. And something in the order of a couple of dozens later European titles as well.

Tempest
Well it appears that my XF551 reads on both sides of the disk so I don't need to lug out my 810 after all. Still, I need to get a working 1050, as the XF551 doesn't match my 800XL's color scheme. Tempest
