megatrader
I have a copy of Murder on the Zindernuf by EA and when I run it on an actual Atari 800, it's almost impossible to see the people against the checkered background. It looks like the people might be behind the background. I can't believe this is the way it's supposed to look. Has anyone seen this before? Jetboot Jack
Zinderneuf used a weird graphics mode - Basic Mode 0 with the GTIA bit set to get 80*192 - but built of chraracters - like Mode 10 or 11 but with tiny RAM overhead and yes it does look a bit "Muddy" - but that's the way it was... Running it under emulartion is clearer - but I think that monochrome PMG over low resolution and very pastel colors does make for a hard to read display! sTeVE
Big Player
I loved this game, it was one of my favorites for the 8-bits. I ran mine on an 800XL and never had a problem seeing anything in the game. Wish my 800XL hadn't died ten years ago. And I threw out all my software. megatrader
I looked a version on an emulator and it looks much better than the version running on my 800. Even though it's a wierd graphics mode, I still can't believe it's meant to look like this. I'll attach a video capture. Didn't the graphics chips change at some point? Could that be the problem? Jetboot Jack
I suspect your 800 has got a CTIA rather than a GTIA graphics chip - on my 800 and XL series machines it looks just like the PC emulation - only thru fuzzy Composite video! sTeVE
