EricDeLee
Anyone want to help me figure out how to get the Flashback2 to run off of batteries... and where to add video and sound wires to?
myworldplz
Well, "Mod" being a general term I did do a "Modification" when I bought my 2600. The AC Supply didn't work, no shock when licked so I replaced it by cutting end off and soldering it to a 9V Unit I got from RadioShack. Mod is so general
brojamfootball
Anyone want to help me figure out how to get the Flashback2 to run off of batteries... and where to add video and sound wires to? Attach a 9v battery to the power input, just match plus to plus and minus to minus. Video and sound wires are already there, just trace them if you want to replace them for some reason. My 2600-related mods? Why, a cart slot put on a FB2 of course! More in the works...
aftermac
-Made adapter cables, so my Odyssey 2 can use 2600 compatible controllers. -Made my O2 controllers 2600 compatible. -Converted an NES controller to be 7800 compatible. -Composite modded a 2600 Jr, using the existing RCA jack and just adding a headphone jack to the back of the unit. shadow460
Modded a 7800 to play every single 2600 game I have without forcing them in. I cut the port sleeve and added a TV Type switch. It plays Miner 2049er without mods to the cart and it plays games like Phaser Patrol that require the use of the TV Type switch.

I basically figured out how to do this on my own. It's not terribly difficult. Here are a couple links I used to figure out the O2 pin-outs. To do the mod you need to use the cables from Atari or Genesis controllers, since the 2600 and O2 have different pins that are not used and therefore have no wire going to that pin. A continuity tester also doesn't hurt in case the wire colors in the cable you use don't match 100%. http://web.archive.org/web/20080106091941/...s/o2pinouts.php http://gamesmuseum.pixesthesia.com/history...ey2/o2stick.txt

liveinabin
You're all terribly clever I pretty much wrecked a 2600jr doing a composite mod on it. I've never found a good solution for PAL machines (and my soldering is terrible). It works but the colors are insane. Um...I stuck some woodgrain on my Xbox. No? Silvio Mogno
Converted a flashback 1 joystick to work with my 2600 (a better way to use it ).
tkarner
My most useful mod was a two button joystick. The games Spy Hunter, Defender2/Stargate, and Star Voyager have secondary weapons that required pressing the button on the SECOND joystick. How useless is that? So I installed a second button on a joystick and wired it into the second joystick port.

So I installed a second button on a joystick and wired it into the second joystick port. That's a mod I've been thinking of doing for a while. You happy with location of second button? It's a good place for the second button because I can use my index finger to press it. As I recall the cx40 doesn't give you many choices where to put a second button anyway. As it is, the new switch prevents replacing one of the four screws so the joystick is held together with only three screws. Also, it might not be obvious in the picture, the second cable is removable. I used a 1/8" plug and jack so you can remove the cable when using single button games.
