5200 Power Pack

Recommended Posts

I decided to test my 5200 power supply on my new multimeter, and I get a reading of 13.6 DCV, whereas it should be 11.5 DCV. So I went downstairs and grabbed my other power supply, and it gave the same reading! I tried another multimeter, and got the same readings.

So do I have two equally bad power supplies, or is this somehow normal for these?

Aha! I found a page that seems to answer my question. Many of these power supplies are not self-regulated. They're regulated in the console. So testing the power supply when it isn't under load will give a much higher reading.

Problem solved!
