Hi there!

 

I'm rarely "Playing..." racing games, but I don't mind having a closer look every once in a while:

 

 

I remember playing a round or two every time I saw it somewhere in my youth, but never really cared about getting a home version. The C64 version was rated 20% in Happy Computer and later the Amiga had much better offerings like e.g. Test Drive 2 or Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge.

 

I thought the best version should be the Genesis one, after all coming from Sega themselves. Still, it's no competition for the Arcade. The graphics are tolerable in most parts, seizure inducing in others, and the easy listening background MIDI music is horribly boring.

 

The end is a neat little animated sequence though, nicely rewarding the hour I spent getting there:

 

 

Personally I won't add it to my collection - but then I normally don't buy racing games anyway

 

Some future day the "Playing..." series may see its sequel "Turbo Out Run", but first it'll continue with something else.
