Planet Bob - Playing Terramex (C64)

Hi there!

Since I think I'm generally overusing "weird", I'm calling this one "bizarre" instead:

I've no idea what the story of this game is about, but the first thing you do (in the desert scenery pictured above) is picking up a vacuum-cleaner and use it to fly upwards, landing on a cloud :ponder:

Generally it falls into the category Brittish-Action-Adventure I think, not that far away from e.g. Jack the Nipper. So you're jumping/running/climbing/flying/falling through the usual 40 screens, collecting everything in your path and using the right item at the right time.

The graphics are pretty good for this kind of game. (Of ourse as usual I had a hard time of identifying the objects I picked up.) A major highlight is the excellent music from Ben Daglish.

The game plays rather easy, but the riddles were ususally pretty off-beat, so I was consulting a walkthrough half a dozen times. At least the game was linear enough so that I didn't need a map.

I guess I beat it, but I couldn't make head or tail of the ending sequence. I assume some meteor was defeated or so :lolblue:

BTW: German Power Play mag hated it, calling it "Terrormax". I don't think it's that bad

Some future day the "Playing..." series may see another bizarre adventure in the form of "Weird Dreams", but first it'll continue with something else.

Greetings,

Manuel
