Miles Prower
I need to replace the cables for my SNES controllers. Im trying to find a replacement 5 conductor cable but so far I haven't found anything. I've tried most of the online component stores but can't find anything suitable. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement?
GroovyBee
It would help if we knew what country you are in. Then we can recommend suitable online stores.
Miles Prower
Im in the US. I've tried to find sites that specialize in OE video game parts but haven't found much. Would the cables be a custom part or off the shelf?
GroovyBee
Would the cables be a custom part or off the shelf? If you can solder, most 5 core cables will do. If you can't, you are probably better looking on eBay or CTCW or placing a wanted add on here.
Miles Prower
Hmm. could I make them myself? I can get the connector components with no problem and I can get the wires but I would need to know what the material the cable sheath is. Im not sure if its rubber or some kind of PVC or if I can even get it but if I can gather the material then I could make my own replacements. I actually found suitable 5 conductor cables with black rubber sheath but I can't remember what site it was. I only know of Jameco, mouser, digikey and a few others. GroovyBee
Have you looked on EBay? You can get some imports from Hong Kong very, very cheap. It might work out cheaper than fixing it at home.
