Inky
Holy cow, that's neat... My guess is its questions for an arcade quiz game...
atari_aaron
So it's like a tape for a tape drive? For loading the questions into the video game or something?
Monochrome
It was used on the Kee Games Quiz Show arcade game: From the KLOV Technical the game used a strange magnetic tape loading mechanism for the questions. Additional tapes could be purchased with alternate sets of questions. It is unclear whether this was an 8-track tape or a normal cassette. Questions were streamed off the tape directly to the screen. http://www.klov.com/Q/Quiz_Show.html

Philflound
So I'm still trying to figure this out. Is the tape that is being sold on Ebay one that plugged into the full sized arcade machine or is it made for a home unit? Phil
Monochrome
It's for the full size arcade unit. For what I understand the question are stored on the tape, and are loaded in when somebody is playing the games. Like that old home computers that stored stuff on tapes, before floppies. That way there are many many many questions, without taking up ram. Ram was very very very expensize back then. That game probley had less than 256k. (1/4 of a meg). Probley more like 14k . Data East did this with some games. I have a Burger Time that was on a mini-tape. Just change the security device and tape and viola a new game. One of my favorite games, Peter Peppers Ice Cream Factory, is only available on this system. Tempest
