Waterborn
We just picked up a boxed 2-port 5200 at our shop. The system is in great cosmetic shape and powers up immediately. When I put in a 5200 cart, I get nothing out of the video or audio. However, when I try to play a game using a 2600 cartridge adapter for the 5200, it fires right up and plays just fine. I know that the 2600 carts/adapter have different pin configs that the 5200 carts. Any idea on how I can trouble shoot or fix this issue? I would hate to not be able to get this system working as it is in such great shape otherwise AND it is a 2-port model. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! ninermaniac
Dane, it honestly sounds like it needs a new POKEY and/or ANTIC chip. That, to me, is the most logical solution. Here's the schematics to look and change it if you have another to switch it out with. http://www.atariage.com/5200/archives/schematics/index.html Edited June 26, 2009 by ninermaniac
+Allan
There is the original Atari repair manual online. It takes you through what is wrong and tells you all the possibilities. Here it is. Allan
