aminerva
Hi, My XEGS Keyboard stopped working today, except for the Break key. If I just boot to the "Ready Prompt" the only key that registers is the Break Key. If I boot to the Self Test, none of the keys (on the keyboard)register, including the Break key. At the Self Test the buttons on the main XEGS computer test fine (Start, Select, etc...) As far as I know, nothing has happened to the keyboard to cause this (spilled drink, etc...) I've opened the keyboard, all wires look well connected & everything looks fine. Any ideas? Just a short somewhere in the cord? Anyway to test this? I'm not very good w/ electronics but if it is as easy as testing for a current with some cheap radio shack device, I'll give that a try. The rest of the XEGS works & tests fine. Thanks for any help/ideas. Tony
Goochman
The mylar Atari used for the XE keyboards was 'cheap' to be nice One day it will go and you need to get a replacement mylar.
aminerva
So mylar is the plastic-y thing under the keyboard, that has the metal-ish map of the keys built into it? Assuming that's it, it looks like it would cost about $22 to replace if I go with Best or B&C. Guess I have to decide if I want to do that or get another XEGS from Ebay. Is it common for all keys except one to stop working when the Mylar goes? Thanks again Tony
