nez23
Anyone know anything about this coin/token? Is also marked The 1982 World's Fair Knoxville Tennessee. No cash value! I tried it at the local 7-eleven and coin is correct! No cash value! Anyhow, anyone interested can email me. nez05@verizon.net
the 5th ghost
post a picture kiddo! just click the "insert image" icon and go from there. BTW folks... nez23 is a good friend of mine. He's new to atariage so I'll help him out the best I can. I actually told him to post this in the Marketplace forum but... He recently found this Gorf coin and, knowing I'm somewhat knowledgable of vintage video game memorabilia, asked what I knew of it. I told him it was probably a promo item given at the 1982 expo, but since I wasn't certain, I recommended he post it here to see what you folks thought. pinball22
There were two arcades at the 1982 World's Fair here in Knoxville (it was 1982, after all!) and the tokens for them had various games on them... I have a Ms. Pac-Man one I got from someone later. (Should have kept one of each at the time, but I was too busy feeding them into machines!) The Wikipedia thinks there were Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Qix, Gorf, Scramble, and Donkey Kong... I don't remember for sure if that was all of them. They show up occasionally among the large amount of World's Fair memorabilia you see at antique stores and flea markets here.
