Is 2600 Donkey Kong Compatible on the 7800?

Just like the subject asks. I tried playing the 2600 version of DK on my 7800, but I can't get it to work. What's strange is that it plays fine on both my Heavy 6er, my 4-switcher and my Coleco Gemini. I don't have a problem with any other games, it seems. All my 7800 carts work fine, as do my other VCS games. It's just this one. I can load DK onto my Kroko Cart and it works fine that way too.

 

Now, this DK cart is the pack-in game that came with the Gemini (it has the round sticker on the back that states as such) so I don't know if there's any difference between that one and the other DK carts out there.

 

Any thoughts on this one? I'm completely stumped.

Wow, that is bazaar. I have the typical white cart DK by Coleco, works just fine in my 7800.

Maybe there is some sort of difference since it was a pack in for the Gemini, but I dont see why or how that would make a difference, especially if it works on your VCS 2600 just fine

I've never had a problem with DK on my 7800 either.

There are a few 2600 games that don't work on certain 7800s but DK is not one of them AFAIK. Maybe it's a cartridge-slot fit issue?

Why on earth would you want to play the 2600 version of Donkey Kong on your 7800, when you could play the 7800 version of Donkey Kong instead?

Because DK was the HSC game of the week for the 2600...and I've got my 7800 set up right now. It's no longer an issue because the new week has started.

Both versions are lacking. That is one game that needs to be redone for both platforms. Not a unique opinion.

I have the same issue with my copy of Berzerk... it won't play in my 7800, or my friend's 7800, but it plays fine in my 2600. So I suspect the cart's going bad.

 

I do have 2600 Donkey Kong, and last I tried it, it worked in my 7800 just fine.
