4Ks
47,260 Kind of a cool game. I lost my last life on the space invader level, because the ball was going at rocket speed from hitting all those grey blocks.

atariron82
First off, I'm the proud owner(saviour) of a decades forgotten 800XL, found in a barn under a pile of ANTIC magazines, which were under about 2 inches of dust, hay and cobwebs. Other goodies in the cache were a 1050 drive, a 410 tape drive, orig. "ingot" power supply, asst. cables, joysticks, a Wizard of Wor cart, and some Dynacomp literature. The odyssey I undertook to bring these Atari artifacts back to life would not have been possible without the information provided by the dedicated people in this community. It's hard to describe the feeling when that Wiz-Of-Wor game powered up on the TV screen! As a long-time devotee to the Atari 5200, it seems only logical that the XL is the place to go if you want to play all the other countless 8-bit games which will likely never make it to the console. I've never been a fan of those 'break-out' style games, but I find Arkanoid to be suprisingly fun and addictive! It appears I'm just in time to join in the new HS season, and judging by the competition, I better hone my chops : 70,

+therealbountybob
Well I played again carefully trying to get all the bricks and not go though the bonus doors, levels 25 and 26 are really tough and you can add putting the answer-phone on to the list of things to do before playing this game on a real atari mananged to get to the boss 'Moai' who said gaming wasn't educational? When fandal said 16 hits I thought ok 8 men or so I can do this but I guess it's 16 hits on one go so I failed I'm happy for DeTeacher to keep 2nd place (as it stands) as he completed the game and I didn't, I think this is fairer. Awesome efforts guys For those using Atari800Win Plus, hopefully you've worked out that you can emulate the paddle controllers (Input Mouse Device and select paddles, then Input, Capture Mouse)(press A in the game to select 'Atari Paddles'). Another thing I noticed on my 130xe (in my futile quest to find the non existant pause key) when using paddles, was, if you press space bar your bat moves a little, and if you hold space down and move the paddle it moves in chunks rather than jittering along! [Edit this is ok on my 800 so maybe a hardware issue, also the paddles do not jitter at all on the 800] The other flickering reported is an emulator issue. Divya16
11th divya16 104,630 Slight improvement: One way they could have added the pause was to not release the ball when you catch the "C"s until you press the fire button. So you can catch a break.
MaPa
54,430 Tried just twice, I don't have time lately to play more (missed the bonus round at the end of last year too). So at least 1 point for participating
darthkur
275,650 This is the most time I've spent playing this game on any version. It's usually because of the control scheme. Thanks to therealbountybob for the concise info on how to emulate the paddles with the mouse.

I used Arkanoid for Amiga as test software for Amiga floppy simulator so I'm used the game. But A8 version has terrible collision detection-- I guess it was a port from some other platform. To pass the 33rd round, there is a strategy. Anyway, 543,970 with many lives left.
+therealbountybob
Thank you all for playing and making this a record number of players in the 8-bit HSC I know there are a couple more players in the wings once they get their hardware/emulators sorted. Even if you only manage one go on each game every two weeks please post it! If anyone needs any assistance with anything HSC related e.g. getting real joysticks working on the emulators etc post anytime or send me a message and I'll try and help out. Congratulations to Fandal (former HSC champion for how many years?!) and hats-off also to atariksi and deteacher for completing this game. With many players it looks like points are going to be even more valuable this season, hopefully we'll have enough players for a few bonus tournaments this year, maybe team based Anyone with any suggestions post on the games list thread.
