Your auctions say you can't track or insure packages from the USA to other countries? That is just flat out incorrect. It might cost more to ship but you sure as heck can track and insure to any country in the world.

Well, somebody tell me how to do it, then. I live in a small, ignorant redneck town where government jobs are allocated on the "good ol' boy" system rather than by merit and ability and botulism is still considered a sauce. The post office is staffed by complete morons.

A year or two ago, I was selling (Amazon) DVDs. Some guy in Singapore bought several - $100 worth. The post office clerk told me that USPS insurance and delivery confirmation only worked when the USPS was making the delivery; they couldn't monitor the actions of a foreign agent working for a foreign institution (his words were not nearly that sophisticated, but that's what he was trying to say). All I could do was "send it regular international mail - according to my brilliant clerk. I wasn't comfortable doing this, but I had already made the sale, so that's what I did.

I was hounded repeatedly with impatient "where's my s**t" emails from the seller that didn't even take into account the fact that it was international, nor the fact that I believe I sent it the same day the auction ended. "have not seen this" type of email almost every day. Finally, he claimed "he never got anything" which I believe to be a lie - because of the impatient nature of the guy I suspect dishonesty as well - but I had no proof of anything. He filed a claim and OF COURSE management sided with him.

I was forced to give a refund. I was out not only the merchandise, time and effort for careful packing, seller's fees, and a trip to the post office and stand it line, and international shipping (which DID NOT compute correctly even if I was paid) was $20-something if I remember correctly. I'd have been MONEY AHEAD TO THROW THE STUFF IN THE GARBAGE.

I imagine another service, like UPS/FEDEX/DHL might be able to do this. There's no such facility in this one-horse town. There's a UPS station about 30 miles from here; they're staffed by morons as well - every time I have a package "held for will-call pickup" there's some bullcrap and they can't find the package, necessitating another trip and frustration, and they have limited hours and are closed half the time I go there. So if I wanted to make a 60-mile round trip in my gas guzzler to try them, it might be an option but not an attractive one. There is NO fedex office in that town, and I have never seen DHL but I doubt it.

It's 100-miles to either Memphis or Nashville (200-mile round trip) and there is likely large offices for all the couriers there will competent staffing. I'm not willing to spend 4-5 hours of time and 10 gallons of gas to do that to sell a $20 item.

I sell generally 2-3 items per year, and I hate online selling (now). I always do my absolute best and never know who I'm dealing with. Because I don't sell much, when I take a loss, it hurts very badly. If I was a regular seller, I could afford to take a loss now and then which would be absorbed by the sales of several other transactions, and I also would be unwise (if I was running a business) to ignore the huge non-U.S. market.

If somebody wants to come over and hold my hand and show me how to do it, and guarantee that I don't get screwed over again, or if I decide to try to make a living doing this rather than just get rid of 2-3 items per year (NOT at a profit, mind you, this is no business) - then I'm game.
