Heh, yeah, I guess I was in a mood, alright.

 

On top of that, I kinda made a small error/omission in my first reply, to which I so snarkily (is that a word?) linked.

 

Originally I said (paraphrasing, here) that if you start up the system without a cart in and get your described symptoms then it looks like the system doesn't see the cart ROM.

 

That's stupid. Of course it doesn't see a cart ROM, I told you not to put a cart in!

 

I should have said that starting up the system without a cart in exhibits the same symptoms you describe with a cart in, meaning it looks like the system doesn't see the cart ROM when it's in, so the cart port is suspect.

 

Now, where's that :TailBetweenMyLegs: emoticon when I need it?

Right, I sanded the connectors using some fine 1000 grit sand paper. It took a bit of metal off, just "residue". It doesn't seem to have made much of a difference though.
