Pawn Stars is scripted. Well, the banter is ad libbed, but the deals are setups.

 

That pinball machine the guy brought in in pieces, for instance: Supposedly they gave him $1000 for it, they took it to a restorer who charged them $3000 to fix it up, and they were happy because they said they could get $5000 for it.

 

The actual reality, not the "reality show" reality, is the seller was an actor, the restorer owned the game all along, it was just disassembled and in fine condition to begin with, and it's worth $1000, tops, restored.

 

There has been no end of grumbling about it on rec.games.pinball on Usenet.

 

And don't get me started on the Coke machine that magically changed to a completely different model in restoration!

 

Don't even get me started on what total crap everything that comes out of hollywood is....its all just for ratings and $$$ nothing about truth.
