It's silly season in the UK again and thank God voting is today so we can finally get on with our lives safe in the knowledge that nothing is going to change, whoever is voted in. That is something that had to be said carefully. It's hardly democratic when the winning party often has less than 50% of the vote. It's even less so when the winning party actually has fewer overall votes than the party that came second, which has happened in the UK on at least two occasions in the past 50 years. The tabloids have been 'warning' people of the dangers of a hung parliament. There's nothing wrong with that, you might think. A few dead MPs would be a pleasurable sight to most but sadly it doesn't mean what we all wish it meant. There is an inherent danger in having no party with overall control. Italy has this problem all the time and the chaos this causes is often there for all to see.
