5200 troubles

I today purchased an atari 5200 at a flea market for 12 dollars. IT came with Pacman. I loaded it up and it just hangs on the colored atari Logo. the logo either speeds up or it switches to a corrupted screen that I can't change.

Is there anyway I can fix this. The game is clean and I am pretty sure I cleaned the system well. The colored Atari logo always shows up, so the I thought maybe the game could be broken. This is the 4 port model.

Yep, try a different game. Sometimes the ROM goes bad so cleaning doesn't help.

Sadly I have no other games to try with it. I might sell it as It came with the box, although the box is warped and water damaged.

Unless anyone has any other fixes for this problem.

Could be bad RAM.

I'd try finding another game to try first. You should be able to find something for around a buck.
