Keatah
What setup sports the fastest joystick response times for playing fast games? 1 -- a PC joystick/joypad connected to either an ISA or PCI soundcard in a regular conventional pc. 2 -- a direct connect USB joystick/joypad on a conventional pc. 3 -- a conventional old-school pc joypad/joystick connected to a usb port via one of those adapters. A.J. Franzman
You left out an option -- there are also dedicated ISA and PCI joyport cards. Some old game manuals recommended getting one of those if control response was problematic through a joyport on a sound card.
Video
The more stuff you have, the more delay you'll have. Anything that uses an adaptor will have a delay (like those Saturn to PC adaptors, or PS2 to PC or whatever) Other than that, the most direct rout will be best, but taht will depend on the game you play, if you got an older game, a PC stick that runs throught a game port would be the best probably. More modern stuff, a good USB stick will work fine for you.
Rex Dart
I doubt any of those setups would give you any noticible lag.
roland p
I think ISA or PCI is the most low-level approach so that should have the lowest lag. But the lag will depend on many other factors too, like how the game is programmed and how fast screen updates are made. Maybe the joystick interface's contribution on lag is much lower than that of the other factors.
