Xbox problem

Original Xbox. I power it on, the hard drive tries starting up, then the console powers-off. I do this 3 times, then the console stays on and the LED is flashing amber / red.

 

Any ideas ?

Is it original UN-MODDED unit? Are the vents all clean and clear of dust, dirt etc? Just ruling out over heating.

It sounds to me like it's shutting down in just a few seconds. Overheating takes longer than that, so there must be some other problem.

The console has been modded.

 

I forgot to say, there's also no video.

 

I can sometimes get it to stay on with a green LED, but there's still no picture.

It'll flash an amber (yellow?) and green light if the video cable is disconnected. Try unhooking and rehooking that part. It's possible the cable itself is bad, but that is the likely cause of the system flashing the lights.

 

I've never had it shut off again though, it just sits there with the yellow lights and doesn't do anythi8ng.

I've just borrowed a cable from a friend, and it's now working

 

Still puzzled about the shutting down thing though

 

Never mind, back to playing Robot Wars
